Tallahassee Police Make Arrest Following Overnight Standoff
June 17, 2021
On June 16, just before 11 p.m., the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) responded to the 2100 block of Castor Court to assist the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms in locating a fugitive with an outstanding federal warrant. When officers arrived on scene, the suspect barricaded himself inside an apartment. The nearby residences were evacuated out of an abundance of caution.
Due to the criminal history of the suspect, and the possibility that he was armed, Patrol, Community Oriented Problem Solving Squad, the Violent Crimes Response Team and the Tactical Apprehension and Control Team, who have specialized training, were called out to assist with the arrest of the suspect and to ensure the safety of others in the area.
Roughly eight hours after officers initially spotted the suspect, he surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
This arrest is a testament to TPD’s tireless efforts to ensure the safety of all citizens. The case has been assigned to the Violent Crimes Response Team for a full follow up. Investigators ask anyone with information about this case to please call them at 850-891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
Arrested: Dante Williams, 26, for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (federal warrant), burglary and resisting arrest without violence.
