Adams Street Victim Not Struck By Gunfire (update)

TPD responded to 2833 South Adams Street reference to a victim who was injured by something falling from the ceiling. Upon the arrival of the Tallahassee Fire Department, a bullet hole was located in the ceiling and a projectile was recovered. The victim was initially believed to have sustained a gunshot wound and was subsequently transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert.
Officers learned that prior to the incident, a subject was handling a firearm in a second-floor bedroom. The subject accidently fired the handgun which caused a projectile to go through the second story floor. When the projectile entered the below living room, it struck the tile floor and caused it to shatter.
Preliminary findings determined that the victim was struck with a piece of broken tile and did not sustain a gunshot wound. The victim has since been released from the hospital.

Original Press Release, TPD Investigates Shooting on South Adams Street, Friday, September 20, 2019, 4 p.m.
At 3:03 pm, TPD responded to a shooting near the 2800 block of Adams Street. Arriving officers discovered a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. That victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
