Last night, the Florida State University softball team won the Women’s College World Series, defeating the University of Washington 8-3 in Game 2 of the best-of-3 series. This is the first NCAA title win in softball for FSU and the first time an ACC team has played for and won the title.
FSU and its national championship softball team will receive their first hometown public recognition today when the team appears at the City of Tallahassee’s Commission meeting.
“The Tallahassee community is immensely proud of the Florida State Seminoles Softball team for winning the National Championship last night,” Mayor Andrew Gillum said. “It is a privilege to officially recognize and honor this outstanding team and their tremendous achievement. Today, we are all Noles!”
A larger community celebration is being organized by FSU and community partners. Details are forthcoming and will be provided by FSU.
The City Commission meeting will begin at 4 p.m., be broadcast live on WCOT (Comcast and CenturyLink Channel 13) and streamed live on Talgov.com and Facebook.com/COTNews. The meeting takes place in the Commission Chambers at City Hall, 300 South Adams Street, and is open to the public.
