June 09, 2021
On June 8, the Tallahassee Police Department made an arrest in a fatal crash that occurred on May 15 on High Road, involving an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and a scooter.
The investigation revealed that, just after 5:30 p.m. on May 15, the arrestee was operating an ATV traveling northbound in the 900 block of High Road. The arrestee was passing in no-pass zones and performing wheelies on the roadway. The arrestee lost control and veered into the southbound lanes of High Road, colliding with the driver of a scooter. The driver of the scooter sustained life-threatening injuries and was immediately transported to the hospital. The victim, an adult male, sadly, succumbed to his injuries.
Following a thorough investigation and consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, investigators developed probable cause, and the arrestee was taken into custody.

Operating an ATV, or any other non-licensed vehicle in the roadway, is illegal and poses a safety risk to other drivers and pedestrians.
