TPD Arrests Shooting Suspect (Updated 1/3/2019)

The Tallahassee Police Department has arrested Shamar D. Sutton in connection with two shootings and a home invasion robbery. At approximately 2:47pm Investigators with TPD’s High Risk Offenders Bureau were made aware that Sutton was in the area of the 200 block of Tropicaire Street. Sutton was taken into custody for his active arrest warrants and transported to TPD for questioning. TPD would like to thank all those who have assisted with the case and will provide more information when it becomes available.

Shamar D. Sutton was recently released from the Florida Department of Corrections on June 12, 2018 after serving a sentence for aggravated battery and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. On November 8, 2018 TPD responded to 2502 Holton Street were Sutton fired a small caliber handgun towards the victim several times before fleeing the scene. On December 30, 2018 TPD responded to a home invasion robbery at 1600 Pullen Road. Sutton was observed carrying an assault rifle during the robbery and fled the area in the victim's vehicle which was later recovered. It was later learned that Sutton was suspected of shooting three people in a Gadsden County investigation.
Sutton has been charged with both TPD cases and booked in to the Leon County Detention Facility for processing with possible charges pending.
